Paulsen, Arenado lead Rafters to win
Ben Paulsen has struggled to find his groove this fall. He found some new moves Monday.

The Rockies prospect was 2-for-4 with three RBIs as Salt River defeated Scottsdale, 9-4.

Paulsen drove in a run with a groundout in the first inning. In the next frame, the former third-rounder delivered a two-RBI single. The Rafters scored all their runs in the game's first two innings.

"I was just trying to get my foot down and see the ball," Paulsen said. "I was just trying to battle and put a ball in play and it got through."

The Texas League All-Star has struggled offensively for Salt River, batting .247 with seven RBIs in 18 games. The 24-year-old first baseman has shown sparks of life of late, collecting six hits over his last four games.

"I've been working on a lot stuff since I've been down here," Paulsen said. "I'm getting comfortable and that's what this game is about, consistency and staying comfortable at the plate."

Nolan Arenado, the Rockies' No. 4 prospect, continued his torrid fall campaign, reaching base three times and driving in two runs. The third baseman is batting .404 and is tied for the Arizona Fall League lead with 32 RBIs with Surprise's Mike Olt (Rangers).

"It seems that even when he's behind he's still ahead," the Wisconsin native said of Arenado. "I was trying to watch what he does because he's unbelievable to watch right now. He's one of the main reasons our team is playing so well."

Tim Wheeler (Rockies) scored twice and stole a base while Ryan Wheeler (D-backs) drove in a pair of runs for Salt River.

Dallas Keuchel (Astros) earned his second win, allowing two runs on six hits while striking out four over four innings.

Nationals prospect Zach Walters collected two hits and drove in a run while MLB.com's top prospect Mike Trout (Angels) was 2-for-5 for the Scorpions.
