Red-hot Harper lifts Scorpions past Javs
Bryce Harper has made his slow start in the Arizona Fall League a distant memory.

MLB.com's No. 2 prospect hit a two-run homer and singled Tuesday night to lead the Scottsdale Scorpions to a 6-4 victory over the Peoria Javelinas.

After singling in his first at-bat to extend his hitting streak to 11 games, Harper launched a two-run blast in the third inning. His fifth AFL homer game him five consecutive contests with at least two RBIs.

The top pick in last year's Draft got off to a rough start with Scottsdale, going 1-for-19 over his first five games after missing six weeks with a strained right hamstring.

With his average sitting at .053 on Oct. 13, Harper went 1-for-4 against Salt River to start the streak. He's raised his average to .290 and ranks fifth in the league in homers and RBIs (20). Earlier Tuesday, the Nationals' top prospect was selected to play in this weekend's Rising Stars Game.

"I'm pretty excited," Harper said. "It's going to be fun, entertaining for the fans, to be around the top guys from around the world, basically. It'll be an exciting day."

Giants prospect Joe Panik snapped a sixth-inning tie with a two-run homer. Jean Segura, the Angels' No. 3 prospect, had two hits and scored twice for the Scorpions.

Kentrail Davis tripled home a pair of runs and fellow Brewers prospect Scooter Gennett was 3-for-4 with a run scored for Peoria.

Scottsdale starter Brock Huntzinger allowed a run on three hits and struck out three over four innings. Fellow Red Sox prospect Caleb Clay (1-0) got the win after fanning three over two perfect frames.

Mets right-hander Taylor Whitenton (1-2) gave up two runs on two hits in one inning and took the loss. Javelinas starter Anthony Bass (Padres) surrendered four runs on seven hits over 2 2/3 frames.
