Four Royals prospects to participate in Arizona Fall League Rising Stars Game

KANSAS CITY, MO -- The Arizona Fall League has announced that Royals' right-handed pitchers Nate Adcock and Jeremy Jeffress, infielder Christian Colon and outfielder Wil Myers will represent the West Division-leader Surprise Saguaros in the league's Rising Stars Game on Saturday, November 5. The Royals and Colorado Rockies (five) are the only Major League organizations to place at least four prospects in the Rising Stars Game.

The 23-year-old Adcock spent the entire season with the Royals as a Rule 5 selection, going 1-1 with a 4.62 ERA in 24 appearances, including three starts. Adcock is 1-2 with a 7.15 ERA in three starts for Surprise entering his start this afternoon.

Jeffress, 24, makes his second consecutive Rising Stars Game roster after tossing a scoreless inning with two strikeouts in the 2010 contest. Jeffress is 0-0 with a 4.70 ERA in seven relief appearances with Surprise, striking out 11 in 7.2 innings.

The 22-year-old Colon, the Royals first round selection (fourth overall) in 2010, is batting .280 (14-for-50) with a double, two home runs, five RBI and six runs scored for Surprise. Playing mostly second base, he has hit in six straight coming into today, batting .385 (10-for-26).

Myers, 20, has served as the primary No. 3 hitter for Surprise and is hitting .367, sixth in the league, with five doubles, three triples, three home runs, 14 RBI and 16 runs scored. The right fielder has also drawn 17 walks, ranking second in the Arizona Fall League in on-base percentage (.506), slugging percentage (.700), OPS (1.206).

The Rising Stars game, scheduled for this Saturday at 7:10 p.m. CT at Surprise Stadium, the spring home of the Royals and Texas Rangers, will be nationally televised by the MLB Network and online via MLB.com (MLB.TV).
