CINCINNATI -- All signs indicate that injured Reds reliever David Weathers is making progress.
Weathers, who is on the 15-day disabled list with ulnar nerve irritation in his right elbow, threw in the bullpen on Thursday for the first time since he abruptly left Saturday's game vs. the Brewers. There were no problems reported.
"I'm getting there," Weathers said. "I should be right on schedule."
On Tuesday, Weathers will begin a rehabilitation assignment at Triple-A Louisville. He's scheduled to also pitch next Thursday and Friday at Class A Dayton.
Weathers will be eligible to come off the DL on May 5 vs. the Cubs, after the Reds return home from a 10-day road trip. This season, the 38-year-old is 0-2 with a 4.91 ERA in eight games.
