Infielder Josh Harrison has been placed on the 10 day disabled list with a fracture of the fifth metacarpal on his left hand and outfielder/infielder Chris Bostick (#63) has been recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis. Harrison suffered the injury Saturday night when he was hit by a pitch thrown by Cincinnati righthander Tyler Mahle in the fifth inning.
In 126 games with Indianapolis this season, Bostick hit .294 (143-for-486) with 33 doubles, three triples, seven home runs and 57 RBI while playing games at all three outfield positions as well as second base and third base. He ranks third among International League leaders in doubles, fourth in average and ninth in OPS (.779).
The 24-year-old Bostick went hitless in four at bats with the Pirates during his first stint in the big leagues between 5/8-12. He made his Major League debut on 5/8 at Dodger Stadium as a defensive replacement in left field; played the final five innings and went hitless in two at bats. He made his first big league start in left field on 5/9 at Los Angeles and went 0-for-1 with a walk at the plate.
