D-backs recall Brancho, Hoover, Murphy and Shipley from Triple-A Reno

The Arizona Diamondbacks recalled RHP Silvino Bracho (@silvinobracho), RHP J.J. Hoover (@JJ_Hoover), C John Ryan Murphy (@JRMurphy513) and RHP Braden Shipley (@shipley25) from Triple-A Reno and selected INF/OF Kristopher Negrón (@KNegs17) from Reno. To make room on the 40-man roster, Arizona released RHP Rubby De La Rosa. The D-backs have 30 players on their active roster and the 40-man roster remains at 40.

Bracho, 25, has not allowed a run in 6 of his last 7 appearances with the D-backs (2.08 ERA; 2 ER in 8.2 IP). Overall, he owns a 4.91 ERA (8 ER in 14.2 IP), a .228 opponent average (13-for-57) and 14 strikeouts in 13 games over 7 stints with Arizona. In 33 relief appearances for Reno, Bracho was 3-2 with 8 saves, a 4.08 ERA (16 ER in 35.1 IP), a .197 opponent average (25-for-127) and 48 strikeouts (12.23 strikeouts per 9.0 innings).

Hoover, 30, ranks eighth among NL relievers with 12.30 strikeouts per 9.0 innings. He is 1-1 with a 4.28 ERA (16 ER in 33.2 IP) and 46 strikeouts in 38 relief appearances for the D-backs. He has held the opposition scoreless in 7 of his last 10 appearances, including 2.2 scoreless innings in his last outing on August 19 @ Minnesota Twins. In 9 games with the Aces, he posted a 0.87 ERA (1 ER in 10.1 IP) with 12 strikeouts.

Murphy, 26, will wear No. 36 in his first stint with the D-backs after being acquired on July 27 from the Twins for LHP Gabriel Moya. In 78 games between Triple-A Rochester and Reno, he threw out 40.7 percent of attempted base stealers (24-for-59) and batted .238 (62-for-261) with 9 doubles, 6 home runs, 34 RBI and 29 walks. In 19 games for the Aces, he hit .284 (19-for-67) with a .351 on-base percentage, 2 home runs, 7 RBI and 7 walks, while throwing out 46.2 percent of attempted basestealers (6-for-13).

Murphy has appeared in 141 Major League games over 4 seasons with the New York Yankees (2013-15) and Twins (2016), hitting .238 (82-for-344) with 17 doubles, 1 triple, 5 home runs, 27 RBI and 22 walks.

Shipley, 25, has appeared in 5 games (2 starts) over 4 stints with the D-backs and is 0-1 with a 6.35 ERA (12 ER in 17.0 IP). He last appeared for Arizona on August 20 @ Twins, throwing 5.2 innings in relief (5 R-4 ER), tied for the fourth-longest relief outing in team history. He was 7-6 with a 5.66 ERA (66 ER in 104.0 IP) in 19 starts for the Aces this season, including going 2-0 with a 2.04 ERA (4 ER in 17.2 IP) with 15 strikeouts over his last 3 starts.

Negrón, who will wear No. 45 in his first stint with the D-backs, hit .300 (116-for-387) with a .366 on-base percentage, a .501 slugging percentage, 17 doubles, 11 triples, 13 home runs, 64 RBI and 35 walks in 120 games for Reno. Over his last 69 games since June 9, he batted .335 (81-for-242) with 12 doubles, 8 triples, 11 home runs, 43 RBI and 14 walks, including a .389 average (37-for-95) with a .431 on-base percentage and .589 slugging percentage in 26 games in August. He played every position for Reno except catcher, making 33 appearances in right field, 30 at third base, 23 in center field, 9 at second base, shortstop and left field, and 1 at first and pitcher.

Negrón has appeared in 96 Major League games over parts of 3 seasons with the Cincinnati Reds (2012, '14-15), hitting .220 (53-for-241) with 12 doubles, 1 triple, 6 home runs, 19 RBI and 22 walks. He has made 27 appearances at third base, 23 at second base, 12 at shortstop, 11 in left field, 6 in center field and 2 at first base and in right field.

De La Rosa, 28, made 9 relief appearances for the D-backs, going 0-1 with a 4.70 ERA (4 ER in 7.2 IP) with 12 strikeouts. He underwent UCL Revision Surgery on his right elbow, performed by Dr. James Andrews, on August 21.
