As the summer winds down, competition around baseball is heating up. It's all happening live on MLB.TV during the Pennant Race Sale this weekend.
Just look to the Bronx, where one of the sport's revered rivalries is revving up for the second in a three-game series as the Yankees host the Red Sox. With the Yanks trailing Boston in the American League East, they'll trot out their newly established ace, Luis Severino, to take on Drew Pomeranz. Severino will seek his fifth consecutive victory and his second against the Sox in 2017. In his last four starts, Severino has allowed two earned runs over 25 2/3 innings to go with 32 strikeouts. Pomeranz has also been extremely effective of late with a 2.24 ERA over his last 10 outings.

With a full slate of games throughout the day, here's what to watch for from coast to coast (all times ET):
A lift from Lester?: CHC@ARI, 8:10 p.m.
Tonight marks the Cubs' second crack at avenging last week's series loss at home to the D-backs, which ended with a pair of tough losses. The North Siders will take the field behind Jon Lester, who was on the mound for the Cubs' 16-4 rout of Arizona in the series opener at Wrigley Field on Aug. 1. The southpaw notched two career milestones that day with his 2,000th strikeout and first home run.
Meanwhile, a surging Paul Goldschmidt will back Patrick Corbin, who could benefit from a strong showing tonight. Corbin yielded 10 earned runs over nine innings in his first two starts of the month, and he'll look to return to form against the reigning World Series champions. In 10 outings in June and July, Corbin allowed more than three earned runs just once.
Ramirez vs. Ramirez: LAA@SEA, 9:10 p.m.
The Halos' JC Ramirez will do battle in a West Coast nightcap against Erasmo Ramirez, who recently returned to the Mariners. Both right-handers struggled in their last appearances. JC surrendered six runs over seven innings in a loss to the Orioles, while three Royals hitters took Erasmo deep in a 9-1 Seattle loss. Both clubs have their eyes on an AL Wild Card berth, as well, which makes this AL West matchup all the more interesting.
