"It's just one of those injuries. Structurally everything's good," Davidson said. "On Sunday when I was beginning to play, it was just too painful to continue on. I needed a couple more days, and we needed that. We needed some help on the bench."
Davidson hasn't swung yet, but he hopes to swing Friday and adjust from there. It's a frustrating injury, and one he has to be particularly careful with.
"I obviously use it every day with my swing and you don't want to tinker with that mechanically just to make sure it feels good," Davidson said. "Collectively we just kind of thought we'd get a couple more days out of it and try and not play with it to the end of the season, and finish it now and move on."
With his 22 homers, Davidson still maintains the team lead. He has no problems being considered a home run hitter.
"No, I'm good with that. I like home runs," Davidson said. "There's been some positive and negative this season and we're just trying to make the most out of the positives.
"You get up here and it is the best league. You're going to have to make adjustments every single season. But yeah, I think we're happy with where I'm at. We've still got some work to do and I'm excited to finish out the season strong."
