Twins place Mejía on disabled list

Vargas recalled from Rochester

The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed left-handed pitcher Adalberto Mejía on the 10-day disabled list with a left arm brachialis strain. Mejia suffered the injury in his start last night against Milwaukee. Mejía has made 18 starts this season, going 4-5 with a 4.47 ERA (86.2 IP, 43 ER), 40 walks and 74 strikeouts.

To replace Mejía on the 25-man roster, the Twins have recalled first baseman/designated hitter Kennys Vargas from Triple-A Rochester. In 50 games for the Twins this season, Vargas has hit .244 (43-for-176) with eight home runs and 30 RBI.
