Colorado Rockies reinstate left-handed pitcher Jake McGee from disabled list
The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have reinstated left-handed pitcher Jake McGee from the 10-day disabled list (mid-back strain) and have optioned right-handed pitcher Shane Carle to Triple-A Albuquerque.
- McGee, who turns 31 today, was placed on the 10-day DL on July 30 (retroactive to July 27) … has gone 0-1 with a 3.27 ERA (41.1 IP, 15 ER), 12 walks and 47 strikeouts in 43 appearances with the Rockies this season … scoreless in 34 of his 43 appearances while holding opponents to a .219 batting average … in parts of eight seasons with Tampa Bay (2010-15) and Colorado (2016-17), he has gone 23-15 with 42 saves, a 3.09 ERA (346.2 IP, 119 ER), 281 hits, 100 walks and 404 strikeouts in 397 career appearances … was acquired by the Rockies, along with right-handed pitcher German Márquez, via trade with the Rays in exchange for outfielder Corey Dickerson and infielder Kevin Padlo on Jan. 28, 2016. - Carle, 25, was recalled from Triple-A on Saturday for his second stint on the Major League roster … was also recalled April 14 and made his Major League debut that night in San Francisco … pitched one scoreless inning with a strikeout in his one appearance for the Rockies prior to his April 16 option to Triple-A … with Albuquerque this season, is 3-5 with a 6.05 ERA (55.0 IP, 37 ER), 21 walks and 44 strikeouts over 31 appearances, including three starts … originally acquired by Colorado from Pittsburgh via trade on Nov. 11, 2014 in exchange for right-handed pitcher Rob Scahill … in his Minor League career, is 27-29 with a 4.15 ERA (520.1 IP, 240 ER), 113 walks and 361 strikeouts across five seasons with Pittsburgh (2013-14) and Colorado (2015-17) affiliates.
