Rangers option Loe to Minors

SURPRISE, Ariz. -- The Rangers have optioned pitcher Kameron Loe to Triple-A Oklahoma, leaving two pitchers in the running for the final spot in the bullpen.

Right-handers Wes Littleton and Robinson Tejeda are still left in camp with a chance to win a job after Josh Rupe was told he had made the team. Tejeda is out of options, meaning he would have to clear waivers before being sent to the Minors.

Loe, who has pitched in 94 Major League games, was sent down with a 6.19 ERA and opponents hitting .304 off him this spring.

"He needs to command his sinker a lot better and he needs to get his secondary pitches over," Rangers manager Ron Washington said. "He left too many balls up. He's a ground-ball pitcher and he's not getting ground balls. We're not seeing the real Kameron Loe. He needs to straighten himself out."

Rupe made the team with a strong finish, allowing two runs in eight innings over his final six appearances.

"He got better each time out," Washington said. "He did well and he's healthy. He can be good for us and somebody we can get some length from."
