at Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
Wednesday, March 26

Nationals at the plate: Cristian Guzman and Lastings Milledge both hit RBI doubles in the fifth inning. Milledge had a potential three-run seventh-inning homer robbed by Joe Borchard's leaping catch at the left-field wall.

Braves at the plate: Mark Teixeira, who entered the game with a .188 batting average, enjoyed a two-hit day that included a double and a two-run fourth-inning homer. Mark Kotsay, who began the day hitting .220, also contributed a double.

Nationals on the mound: Showing off his new delivery which has increased his velocity, Matt Chico allowed the Braves five earned runs on seven hits over 5 2/3 innings.

Braves on the mound: Starter Jeff Bennett, who will likely begin the season in the bullpen, limited the Nationals to one hit over four scoreless innings. Working back-to-back days for the first time this spring, closer Rafael Soriano issued one walk and completed a scoreless inning.

Grapefruit League records: Nationals 10-18-2, Braves 14-13-2.

Up next for Nationals: John Lannan will get the start on Thursday afternoon, when the Nationals conclude their Grapefruit League season by hosting the Orioles at 1:05 ET. The club will leave after the game and head back to Washington, where it'll open its new stadium during Sunday night's season opener against the Braves.

Up next for Braves: The Braves will conclude their Grapefruit League season on Thursday afternoon at 1:05 ET, when they host the Mets. Top setup men Peter Moylan and Manny Acosta are among the four relievers scheduled to pitch the first five innings for Atlanta.
