D-backs send down Buckner, Rosales

TUCSON, Ariz. -- The D-backs made two roster moves following Monday's game with the Giants, as they optioned pitchers Billy Buckner and Leo Rosales to Triple-A Tucson. Neither had been expected to make the Opening Day roster.

Buckner was acquired by the D-backs from the Royals in exchange for infielder Alberto Callaspo in December. The right-hander was 1-2 with a 5.29 ERA in seven games for the Royals and 9-7 with a 3.78 ERA in 27 games for Triple-A Omaha. He tallied a 1-1 record with a 7.62 ERA in six games covering 13 innings this spring, including one start.

The D-backs picked up Rosales from the Padres last July in exchange for outfielder Scott Hairston. The right-hander did not pitch after the trade because he had fractured his hand in June. He made seven appearances this spring, totaling eight innings, going 0-1 with a 7.88 ERA.

The D-backs now have 35 players left in camp including 17 pitchers, three catchers, nine infielders and six outfielders.
