Orioles on the mound: Jeremy Guthrie struck out five and didn't issue a walk, but let a 4-2 lead get away from him in the fifth inning. He finished with four runs on eight hits in 4 2/3 innings. Chad Bradford took the loss after giving up Ludwick's home run, but Randor Bierd pitched two hitless innings with a strikeout and a walk.

Cardinals on the mound: Adam Wainwright gave up nine hits over 4 2/3 innings, allowing four runs with a strikeout and a walk. Jason Isringhausen cruised through a hitless, scoreless sixth with a strikeout and a walk. Ron Villone issued two free passes, but got out of the seventh with no hits or runs.

Grapefruit League records: Orioles 8-12; Cardinals 11-10.

Up next for the Orioles: The Orioles will play the first of their final four home games on Saturday at 1:05 p.m. ET, a game that pits right-hander Daniel Cabrera against the Florida Marlins. In his last outing, Cabrera worked into the sixth inning and allowed two earned runs.

Up next for the Cardinals: Kyle Lohse makes his Cardinals Grapefruit League debut against the Twins on Saturday at 12:05 p.m. CT, eight days after signing a one-year deal. Lohse immediately becomes the No. 2 or 3 starter in the current Cards' rotation, so the club will be extremely interested to see how he fares in his first game.
