Milledge to rest sore left toe

Milledge to rest sore left toe

VIERA, Fla. -- Nationals outfielder Lastings Milledge is expected to miss the next two games because of a sore left toe, which has been bothering him since last week. The injury is not considered serious.

"Everything is good," he said before Monday's loss to the Mets. "The doctor said it would take a couple of days for the pain to completely go away. I'm ready to go."

Milledge played Sunday against the Orioles, going 0-for-3. He is hitting .333 this spring.

Milledge's outfield mate, Elijah Dukes, was supposed to be in the starting lineup against the Mets, but he is still suffering from a strained right hamstring, which he hurt against the Indians last Friday.

Manager Manny Acta said Dukes is expected to miss a couple of more games.

In the meantime, Ryan Zimmerman played his first game since last Tuesday and went 2-for-4 with an RBI against New York. He had missed almost a week of action because of a tight right hip flexor.
