Harang tunes up with Class A Dayton

SARASOTA, Fla. -- Now pitching, for the Dayton Dragons, Aaron Harang!

Yes, that was Harang tuning up for the regular season Sunday by pitching for the Reds' Class A team against Boston Minor Leaguers.

Harang pitched on a side field at Cincinnati's Spring Training complex so Reds manager Dusty Baker could get a chance to look at hot prospect Edinson Volquez in the Grapefruit League game against Philadelphia.

Harang, the Reds' Opening Day starter, threw 88 pitches against a Red Sox Class A squad and the results were not surprising. Harang didn't give up any runs and allowed only a couple of hits.

"I felt good, it's definitely a different feeling out there [compared to the regular game]," Harang said. "You can't work on everything that you would [in a regular game], but I got my work in and was able to work on a few things."

Harang, 29, has won 16 games each of the past two years. He was 16-6 with a 3.73 ERA in 34 starts last season.
