Padres at the plate: Chase Headley hit a 400-foot solo homer, his third, in the third inning. Callix Crabbe added a solo homer, his first, in the seventh.

Brewers at the plate: Joe Dillon and Mike Cameron both singled and scored in the first. Bill Hall tripled and scored in the fourth. Prince Fielder's solo homer in the sixth made it 4-1, Brewers. It was Fielder's first home run this spring. Cameron, a former Padres outfielder, was 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Padres on the mound: Randy Wolf yielded four hits and three runs (two earned) in four innings, while neither walking nor striking out a batter. Adam Bass struck out two in one perfect inning. The Padres defense hurt the cause by committing four errors.

Brewers on the mound: Claudio Vargas continued his strong spring by allowing three hits and one run in five innings, striking out three, as he improved to 3-0 with a 2.40 ERA.

Cactus League records: Padres 8-7; Brewers 11-6.

Padres up next: The Padres will start Wade LeBlanc against the Oakland Athletics at Peoria Sports Complex on Saturday at 1:05 p.m. PT. The Padres also face the Dodgers in Beijing, China, at 10 p.m.

Brewers up next: The Brewers will start Manny Parra against Gil Meche and the Kansas City Royals in Phoenix, Ariz., on Saturday at 3:05 p.m. CT.
