Indians at the plate: The Tribe scored all of their runs on homers. Jason Michaels, Ben Francisco and Kelly Shoppach hit consecutive home runs in the sixth inning off right-hander Steven Shell. Andy Marte added the fourth in the second off starter Matt Chico.

Nationals at the plate: Aaron Boone went 2-for-3 and drove in three runs with a homer in the fifth inning off Edward Mujica. Cristian Guzman had another two hits, including a double, and is now hitting .405 for the season. Pinch-hitter Jason Dubois hit a two-run homer in the seventh, his first of the spring.

Indians on the mound: Right-hander Jeremy Sowers pitched four innings and gave up two runs. He walked two batters in the game.

Nationals on the mound: Chico pitched five innings and gave up a run. He struck out four and walked one.

Grapefruit League records: Indians 7-9-1, Nationals 8-8-2.

Up next: The Nationals return to Space Coast Stadium to play the Dodgers on Saturday afternoon. Game time is 1:05 p.m. ET. Left-hander Odalis Perez will oppose Los Angeles right-hander Brad Penny.

The Indians return to Winter Haven, Fla., to play the Astros on Saturday. Game time is at 1:05 p.m. ET. Cleveland right-hander Paul Byrd will face Houston right-hander Jack Cassell.
