BREWERS 8, DIAMONDBACKS 6 at Tucson, Ariz. Thursday, March 13Brewers at the plate: Vinny Rottino hit a triple to center in the second inning and scored on a Jeff Suppan single. Alcides Escobar doubled over the right-field fence in the third to set up a run later in the inning. Joe Dillon hit his second Cactus League homer as part of the Brewers' five-run rally in the eighth.
Diamondbacks at the plate: Jeff Salazar accounted for all the early runs with a three-run double to right in the first inning. He beat out an infield single in the third. Chris Burke hit his third homer of the spring to lead off the third inning. Connor Jackson had three hits in his first three trips to the plate.
Brewers on the mound: Jeff Suppan pitched three innings and one batter in the fourth before leaving the game after Gerardo Parra bounced a line drive off the pitcher's right arm for an infield single to open the fourth. Suppan allowed six runs on seven hits and three walks. Steve Bray pitched a scoreless inning of relief, allowing two hits to load the bases after Suppan's exit, then retiring two hitters to escape the jam unscathed.
Diamondbacks on the mound: Micah Owings continued to work on his command, giving up three walks and five hits in 2 2/3 innings. He gave up three runs, two earned, and struck out four. Jailen Peguero followed with 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief, striking out two. Brandon Medders had a rough eighth inning, giving up five runs on four hits, a walk, and a hit batsman.

Up next for D-backs: The D-backs will have an Opening Day look to them when they travel to Scottsdale to face the Giants' southpaw Jonathan Sanchez in a 1:05 p.m. PT. game. Brandon Webb will be toeing the rubber along with a lineup of likely Opening Day starters including Chris Young, Orlando Hudson, Connor Jackson, Eric Byrnes, Stephen Drew, Chris Snyder, Mark Reynolds and Justin Upton.
Up next for Brewers: Claudio Vargas will start for the Brewers on Friday when they travel to Peoria, Ariz., to play the Padres. Vargas (2-0, 2.70 ERA) will face left-hander Randy Wolf (0-1, 16.62). The game is set to start at 9:05 p.m. CT.
