Dodgers at the plate: Matt Kemp slugged a three-run homer in the first inning. Chin-lung Hu's single leading off the second inning was Los Angeles' last hit.

Red Sox at the plate: Alex Cora, David Ortiz and Doug Mirabelli doubled. Mirabelli also added a single.

Dodgers on the mound: Esteban Loaiza pitched out of three jams without allowing a run. Nineteen-year-old Clayton Kershaw pitched a 1-2-3 fourth inning. James McDonald pitched a scoreless inning in his first spring appearance. Greg Jones remained unscored upon this spring with a perfect inning. Greg Miller pitched out of a jam in his scoreless inning.

Red Sox on the mound: Daisuke Matsuzaka allowed a three-run homer in the first inning, held the Dodgers scoreless over the next two innings and was removed after walking the leadoff hitter in the fourth. Bryan Corey, David Aardsma and Jon Switzer pitched scoreless innings.
