Diamondbacks at the plate: In the second inning, Robby Hammock knocked in the game's first run with a two-out double to deep center. Hammock scored on Jesus Merchan's RBI single. Merchan's double in the sixth knocked in three more runs. He finished with four RBIs. Trot Nixon knocked in a pair of runs.

White Sox at the plate: Jeff Liefer recorded the first hit for the White Sox, a single in the bottom of the second. Miguel Negron had two hits for the White Sox. Brian Anderson had his streak of reaching base in eight straight games ended. Anderson, who has 10 hits in the Cactus League, went hitless in two at-bats.

Diamondbacks on the mound: Edgar Gonzalez kept his ERA spotless, working three scoreless innings. He allowed three hits and struck out a pair. Juan Cruz followed and pitched a scoreless inning. Barry Enright took over for Cruz in the fifth and blanked the White Sox on one hit over two innings.

White Sox on the mound: Left-hander Carlos Vasquez, who came on in the sixth, had a rough go of things. Unable to find the strike zone, he walked two, hit two batters, gave up five hits and allowed five runs in one-third of an inning. Right-hander Nick Masset, who started, worked four innings and gave up three earned runs on five hits. Octavio Dotel pitched a scoreless fifth, though he gave up a hit and hit a batter.

Cactus League records: Diamondbacks 5-4-1; White Sox 5-6.

Up next: Right-hander Micah Owings will start for the Diamondbacks against the Cubs at HoHoKam Park. Owings will face left-hander Sean Marshall. For the White Sox, left-hander John Danks will start against the Giants at Tucson Electric Park. Danks will face left-hander Jonathan Sanchez.
