Jenkins sad over Favre's retirement

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Geoff Jenkins looked as if someone kicked his dog. He walked as if in a daze, seemingly without the energy to life his head.

"I'm crushed," he said.

Longtime Packers quarterback Brett Favre had decided to retire on Tuesday, very unwelcome news to the former Brewer who attended a few Packers games during his time in Milwaukee.

"He's a Green Bay icon who obviously accomplished a lot, but he's not a guy who seemed driven by [individual records]," Jenkins said. "Everyone enjoyed watching him play. He had a great career."

Jenkins likely echoed the sentiments of everyone in Wisconsin, who hoped the 38-year-old would play another season.

Or forever.

Jenkins' has a comical link to one of the NFL's greatest quarterbacks, as he's often mistaken for Favre. He gets approached by autograph seekers who hand him photos of Favre to sign. Sometimes, he plays along. In Milwaukee restaurants, he occasionally has his bill covered by appreciative Packers fans.

"It probably started the day I got there," Jenkins said. "[The waiter] will say, 'The check's been paid,' or they will be drop a note on the table saying, 'You had some great games last year.' It was my first year there, so it couldn't be me."
