BALTIMORE -- Carlos Guillen is headed back to the disabled list again, plagued by problems from a sore left wrist.
Guillen was placed on the 15-day DL before Sunday's finale against the Orioles, retroactive to Saturday. The Tigers' second baseman apparently hurt his wrist on a swing a few days ago and said he should be fine after the 15 days expires.
"It's been bothering me for the last three or four days," Guillen said. "It probably needs some rest."
Guillen didn't play until July 16 because he was recovering from microfracture surgery on his left knee. He's been struggling since, batting just .207 in 22 games, including a .105 mark in his last 10.
The Tigers recalled second baseman Will Rhymes from Triple-A Toledo to take Guillen's spot on the roster. He's batting .303 with Toledo this season and posted a .221 average in 19 games with the Tigers.
