Among Mariners relievers in 2016, Cishek led the club in appearances (62), innings pitched (64.0) and opponents' batting average (.190/44x232) while ranking 2nd in strikeouts (76). His .190 opponents average against ranked 10th-best among American League relievers last season. He was on the 15-day disabled list with a left hip labrum tear, Aug. 4 (retroactive to Aug. 2) - Aug. 19, 2016, including 2 rehab starts with short-A Everett.
Cishek was signed by the Mariners as a free agent on Dec. 14, 2015. In parts of 7 Major League seasons with Marlins (2010-15), Cardinals (2015) and Mariners (2016-c), he is 21-26 with 120 saves and a 2.82 ERA (118 ER, 377.0 IP) with 408 strikeouts and 140 walks in 373 career relief appearances. The native of Falmouth, Mass., was originally selected by the Marlins in the 5thround of the 2007 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Carson-Newman College (TN).

The native of Panama City Beach, FL, was originally selected by the Diamondbacks in the 6th round of the 2014 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Middle Tennessee State University. He made his Major League debut with the Diamondbacks last season on April 30 vs. Colorado and went 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA (10 ER, 13.1 IP) with 10 strikeouts and 13 walks in 21 games with Arizona. Curtis was acquired from Arizona along with INF Jean Segura and OF Mitch Haniger in exchange for RHP Taijuan Walker and INF Ketel Marte on Nov. 23, 2016. In parts of 4 minor league seasons with Arizona (2014-16) and Seattle (2017), he has compiled a career record of 7-7 with 56 saves and a 2.09 ERA (29 ER, 125.0 IP) in 114 games.
