Astros Foundation Literacy Bus, Presented by Phillips 66 and HISD, to Make Three Stops Throughout Houston This Week

Over 2,000 books will be donated by the Follett Corporation

WHAT:          The Astros Foundation, Phillips 66, and HISD are partnering to send the Literacy Bus on the road to

                         distribute age-appropriate books to children in grades K-5 at various schools and city-owned baseball and

                         softball parks renovated by the Astros Foundation as part of its Community Leaders program. These parks

                         are located within HISD boundaries and serve more than 1,200 Houston-area children each year. More than

                         20 parks have been renovated as part of the Community Leaders program since its inception in 2013. The

                         Literacy Bus is a mobile interactive unit that will encourage family reading in Houston-area communities.

 

WHEN:          Tuesday, May 16

                         11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at Benbrook Elementary School

                         1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. at Janowski Elementary School

 

                         Saturday, May 20

                         1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. at Hidalgo Park, an Astros Community Leaders park sponsored by Lexus
