Colorado Rockies recall outfielder Raimel Tapia
The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have recalled outfielder Raimel Tapia from Triple-A Albuquerque and have optioned right-handed pitcher Jeff Hoffman to Triple-A.
- Tapia, 23, will be making his second appearance of the season on the Major League roster … was recalled from Albuquerque April 14 and went 0-for-7 across two starts in left field before being optioned back to Triple-A on April 18 … in 25 games with Albuquerque, is batting .400 (46-for-115) with 15 doubles, three triples, 20 RBI, seven walks and eight stolen bases … ranks second in the Pacific Coast League in batting average and first in doubles … made his Major League debut with Colorado Sept. 2, 2016 and went 10-for-45 (.222) with four runs, three RBI, three stolen bases and two walks in 24 games … was originally signed by Colorado as a non-drafted international free agent, Nov. 29, 2010. - Hoffman, 24, was recalled from Albuquerque yesterday and made his first start of the season vs. Los Angeles-NL … collected his first Major League win after pitching 5.1 innings and allowing three runs on six hits with a career-high eight strikeouts … was appointed as the 26th man for the second game of the Rockies doubleheader with the Cubs on Tuesday and pitched 1.1 innings, allowing one run on one hit with no walks and two strikeouts … in six starts with Albuquerque, has gone 2-2 with a 3.71 ERA (34.0 IP, 14 ER), 10 walks and 29 strikeouts … was acquired by the Rockies from the Toronto Blue Jays along with right-handed pitcher Miguel Castro, infielder Jose Reyes and right-hander Jesus Tinoco in exchange for right-hander LaTroy Hawkins and shortstop Troy Tulowitzki on July 28, 2015 … was originally drafted by the Blue Jays in the first round (ninth overall) of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft out of East Carolina University.
