New York disqualified from RBI World Series

A change has been made to the list of participating teams for the baseball version of the RBI World Series.

Greater New York Sports Athletic Alliance RBI was disqualified from the 2011 version of the Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) championship tourney due to the inability to field the team that was submitted at the start of tournament play.

Instead, Jersey City RBI will represent the Northeast Region in the senior division of the RBI World Series.

The senior (ages 16-18) and junior (13-15) baseball divisions will begin play in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area on Tuesday, with the two champions being crowned at Target Field on Sunday.

Los Angeles RBI won its second straight softball title on Sunday.
