KANSAS CITY -- Royals All-Star catcher Salvador Perez left Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Indians at Kauffman Stadium in the ninth inning after getting hit by a foul tip while catching in the eighth inning.

After trainer Nick Kenney and manager Ned Yost came to his aid, Perez remained in the game at that point. In the top of the ninth, Perez was replaced by Drew Butera

After the game, X-rays on Perez were negative. He has a contusion on his left forearm, and Yost said he did not believe it was serious.
