Colorado Rockies reinstate left-handed pitcher Mike Dunn from the 10-day disabled list, select the contract of catcher Ryan Hanigan
SAN DIEGO - The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have reinstated left-handed pitcher Mike Dunn from the 10-day disabled list and have selected the contract of catcher Ryan Hanigan from Triple-A Albuquerque. Additionally, the Rockies have optioned right-hander Carlos Estévez to Triple-A and have placed catcher Tony Wolters on the seven-day concussion disabled list.
- Dunn, 31, was placed on the 10-day disabled list on April 26 with back spasms … is 2-0 with a 1.17 ERA (7.2 IP, 1 ER), two walks and 10 strikeouts over 10 appearances with the Rockies this season … signed a three-year contract with Colorado on Dec. 15, 2016 … the Farmington, N.M., native has played parts of nine Major League seasons with New York-AL (2009), Atlanta (2010), Florida/Miami (2011-16) and Colorado (2017) … over 444 career relief appearances, is 30-25 with a 3.49 ERA (358.2 IP, 139 ER), 174 walks and 399 strikeouts.
- Hanigan, 36, was signed to a Minor League contract by the Rockies on March 28 after being released by the Philadelphia Phillies on March 27 … in 13 games with Albuquerque, has batted .282 (11-for-39) with nine runs, three doubles, six RBI, six walks and 12 strikeouts … spent the 2016 season with the Boston Red Sox and batted .171 (18-for-105) with four doubles, one home run and 14 RBI … in parts of 10 seasons with the Cincinnati Reds (2007-13), Tampa Bay Rays (2014) and Boston Red Sox (2015-16), the Washington, D.C., native has batted .250 (465-for-1,858) with 69 doubles, one triple, 28 home runs, 202 RBI and 247 walks … he will wear #30.
- Estévez, 24, has appeared in 13 games for the Rockies this season and has gone 3-0 with a 7.94 ERA (11.1 IP, 10 ER), four walks and 10 strikeouts … his 13 appearances are tied for the most on the club and his three wins are tied for second-most by a reliever in the National League … made his Major League debut in 2016 and went 3-7 with 11 saves, a 5.24 ERA (55.0 IP, 32 ER), 28 walks and 59 strikeouts in 63 appearances.
- Wolters, 24, suffered a concussion in the seventh inning of Tuesday's game at San Diego after being hit in the head by a bat on a swing … in 17 games this season, has batted .346 (18-for-52) with three doubles, one triple, three RBI and three walks … his .346 batting average is second in the Majors among catchers with at least 15 games played … made his Major League debut in 2016 and batted .259 (53-for-205) with 15 doubles, two triples, three home runs, 30 RBI, 21 walks and four stolen bases in 71 games.
The Rockies currently have a full 40-man roster.
