Angels host the Houston Astros in three-game homestand

Mike Trout receives his award for being named the A.L. Player of the Month for April

The Angels return for a quick three-game homestand following a six-game road trip. The homestand begins Friday at 7:07 p.m. vs. the Astros (Friday, May 5 - Sunday, May 7). Following the three game series, the Halos will visit the Oakland Athletics for a short, three-game road trip. Below is a look at the notable events and ceremonies taking place at Angel Stadium during the homestand:


On May 3rd, Mike Trout was named the American League Player of the Month for April. Trout will receive an award prior to the game on Friday, May 5th, to commemorate the achievement. In April, Trout logged a .364 (36/99) batting average with 18 runs scored, nine doubles, two triples, seven home runs, 18 RBI and five stolen bases. This marks the fourth career Player of the Month award and first since July 2015. Trout is the first Angel to win the award four times, passing Frank Tanana's previous record of three.


  • On Saturday, May 6th, the Angels will host Fiesta Angels! This free event will feature entertainment for the whole family including Mariachi bands, food, Angels merchandise and special guest appearances from Angels players and broadcasters. The festivities will begin at 1PM and go until 6PM. Fiesta Angels is presented by State Farm and Coca Cola.


  • During the homestand, there will be a college night hosted by the Angels. On Saturday, May 6th, University of California, Irvine will occupy the area by Gate 5 and distribute their UCI themed Angels caps. Students of the college will have the chance to visit booths and receive prizes and giveaways from the school and its associated organizations. Prior to the game, UCI will hold an on-field ceremony and have Lydia Natoolo throw out the first pitch.


  • Sunday, May 7th, will mark the third of four Little League Days hosted by the Angels in 2017. A total of 8,500 kids from the District 62 Little League will be in attendance for the afternoon, the largest gathering this season. Players from the league will march in a parade on the field's warning track before the matchup against the Astros.
  • Three Little League players have been chosen to participate in the Angels pregame activities. Nolan Joyce will be the Angels Honorary Bat Kid, Chase Rousselo will throw out the first pitch and Ian Cadacio will give the 'Play Ball' announcement.


  • Prior to the game on Friday, May 5th, Azusa Pacific University will hold its 'Teachers are Heroes' night. This pregame ceremony will highlight the achievements of professors employed at the university
  • Saturday, May 6th, represents Girl Scout Night at the Big A! Girl Scouts representing Districts 3562, 486 and more, will be in attendance to commemorate cookie sales and participate in a parade on the field's warning track before the matchup against the Astros.
  • Saturday, May 6th, is the third Saturday Night Spectacular at Angel Stadium presented by Wells Fargo. At the conclusion of each Saturday night game, fans are invited to stay and enjoy a fireworks display.
  • On Saturday, May 6th, a choir of 400 students from Southern California will sing the National Anthem for Choir Night.
