BOSTON -- They're going to dance with the ones who brought them here.
As expected, the Indians roster for the American League Championship Series against the Red Sox is exactly the same as it was for the ALDS against the Yankees. Rosters were due to the Commissioner's Office by 10 a.m. ET on Friday in anticipation for Game 1, which begins at 7:10 p.m.
Because they drew a first-round format in which five games were spread out over seven days, the Indians opted to carry 11 pitchers and 14 position players, rather than 10 and 15. And even though the ALCS has three off-days mixed in with the seven games, the Indians feel it's best to continue to carry an extra arm, just in case.
The Tribe's lineup for Game 1 against Red Sox right-hander Josh Beckett hasn't officially been announced, but it's expected to be standard fare:
1. Grady Sizemore, CF
2. Asdrubal Cabrera, 2B
3. Travis Hafner, DH
4. Victor Martinez, C
5. Ryan Garko, 1B
6. Jhonny Peralta, SS
7. Kenny Lofton, LF
8. Franklin Gutierrez, RF
9. Casey Blake, 3B
Reserves (5): Josh Barfield IF; Chris Gomez IF; Jason Michaels OF; Trot Nixon OF; Kelly Shoppach C.
Pitchers (11): Rafael Betancourt; Joe Borowski; Paul Byrd; Fausto Carmona; Aaron Fultz; Aaron Laffey; Jensen Lewis; Tom Mastny; Rafael Perez; C.C. Sabathia; Jake Westbrook.
