Rangers acquire Blackburn for De La Rosa

SEATTLE -- The Rangers on Sunday acquired right-handed pitcher Clayton Blackburn from the San Francisco Giants in exchange for Minor League infielder Frandy De La Rosa.

Blackburn, 24, has yet to appear in a Major League game, although he was with the Giants for a three-day stint last season. He has a 3.30 ERA and 1.16 WHIP and 8.3 strikeouts per nine innings in a seven-year Minor League career.

De La Rosa was originally acquired from the Cubs in a Nov. 20, 2015, trade for right-handed pitcher Spencer Patton. He spent last season at Class A Hickory, and opened this season with the Class A Advanced Down East Wood Ducks, batting .107 over his first eight games.
