Homestand highlights: April 10-19

Royals home opener set for April 10 against Oakland Athletics; eight-game homestand includes great events and giveaways

After starting the 2017 season on the road, the Kansas City Royals come home for their first homestand of the year and will host the Oakland Athletics (April 10-13), Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (April 14-16) and San Francisco Giants (April 18-19). The eight-game homestand will feature the first GordoNation (April 13) and Bark at The Park (April 19) events for 2017. Fans can also pick up many great giveaway items, including a magnetic schedule (April 10), reusable Royals tote bag (April 15) and t-shirt (April 18). Please see below for more details.
 
ROYALS OPENING DAY: Monday, April 10 - Oakland Athletics vs. Royals, 3:15 p.m.

  • Magnetic Schedule - The first 40,000 fans through the gates will receive a 2017 season magnetic schedule, courtesy of Sprint.
  • Opening Day Pregame Festivities - To celebrate the start of the season, the Royals will host a pregame party throughout The K! Before first pitch, fans can enjoy many great activities in the Outfield Experience, including a live performance from the band, The Zeroes, a poster making station in the BBQ Pit area and face painters behind CrownVision. The jazz band, Chris Hazelton's Boogaloo 7, will also have a concert at the new Price Chopper Stage at Gate B. In addition, fans who choose to stay in the parking lot will be able enjoy drumlines from Shawnee Mission East High School and Blue Valley High School from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Wednesday, April 12 - Oakland Athletics vs. Royals, 7:15 p.m.

  • Student Night presented by INK Magazine - Outfield Plaza or View Reserved tickets are available for Wednesday home games for youth and students with a valid ID at the Kauffman Stadium Box Office for just $10. Select tickets are also available online at www.royals.com/studentnight. Seating is subject to availability. A special pregame Happy Hour, a hot dog and 12-ounce beer or 24-ounce soda for just $8, will be available at the Boulevard Hop Stop or Radler Station (located by the Outfield Experience stage) from the time gates open until 15 minutes before first pitch.
  • Local Music Showcase presented by INK Magazine - Catch a free pregame concert on us! Every Wednesday Student Night also features live local music prior to the game in the Outfield Experience. Thursday, April 13 - Oakland Athletics vs. Royals, 7:15 p.m.

  • GordoNation - Fans can enjoy being a part of GordoNation, a special seating section in left field reserved for die-hard Alex Gordon fans on Thursday home games throughout the season. Fans who purchase Theme Tickets for the event will receive a seat in the Outfield sections in left field, an Alex Gordon big head and the first of three Charlie Hustle brand GordoNation t-shirts (photo attached). Friday, April 14 - Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim vs. Royals, 7:15 p.m.

  • Autism Awareness Night - The Royals join Major League Baseball in raising awareness for autism by hosting Autism Awareness Night. Throughout the evening, the Royals will highlight new initiatives that have been added to the stadium, including Quiet Zones and Exceptional Concession Stands to provide a more inclusive environment. The First Pitch, National Anthem, Buck O'Neil Legacy Seat and the "Play Ball" kid will all recognize autism awareness. Several displays, including a "sensory tent," will have information and activities available in the Outfield Experience.

Saturday, April 15 - Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim vs. Royals, 6:15 p.m.

  • Jackie Robinson Day - On April 15, 1947, Jackie Robinson broke baseball's color barrier with his historic MLB debut. Every year on April 15th, our game honors Jackie's legacy by celebrating his life, values and accomplishments. All 30 MLB clubs wear the number "42" as a powerful, unified, tribute to the Jackie Robinson legacy. To learn more, log on to jackierobinson.org or mlbcommunity.org.   • Family FunDay Sunday presented by Academy Sports + Outdoors - Each Sunday home game features pregame interactive kids entertainment plus face painters and caricature or balloon artists in the Outfield Experience. Fans also have the opportunity to get pregame autographs from select players by the Royals dugout. Following the game, kids 14 and under run the bases for free, presented by the Kansas City Zoo.   • T-Shirt Tuesday: The Hos - The first 10,000 fans will receive a t-shirt showcasing first baseman Eric Hosmer's signature haircut, courtesy of The Kansas City Steak Company (photo attached).

Wednesday, April 19 - San Francisco Giants vs. Royals, 7:15 p.m.

  • Bark at the Park presented by Boehringer-Ingelheim - The Royals host the first of three Bark at the Park events of the season, presented by Boehringer-Ingelheim. Fans who purchase Theme Tickets for the event get a human and canine game ticket (located in lower level left field corner) and a Bark at The Park waste bag dispenser. A $5 donation from the Theme Ticket purchase will benefit Wayside Waifs.
