Bradley also to pitch Saturday; Shipley to start Sunday

Miller to start D-backs' Cactus League opener

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Shelby Miller will start the D-backs' Cactus League opener Saturday against the Rockies at Salt River Fields.

Miller will be followed to the mound by Archie Bradley, who is competing for a rotation spot. Silvino Bracho, Keyvius Sampson, Joey Krehbiel, Daniel Gibson and Yuhei Nakaushiro are also scheduled to pitch.

Braden Shipley will start Sunday's game against the Rockies.

Worth noting

• D-backs ace Zack Greinke's next step will be throwing a batting practice session. Greinke has been progressing slower this spring than other pitchers, but is said to be completely healthy.

"He's ready to do that," D-backs manager Torey Lovullo said. "We're not exactly certain when that will happen, but it'll happen in the next couple of days. We feel very comfortable saying that. Might have an update for you [Friday] on that. But he's right where he wants to be."

• Lovullo said he is not sure where third baseman Jake Lamb will bat in the order this season, but he did shed some light on what Lamb's spot would look like.

"Sandwiched between two righties in a run-producing spot," Lovullo said.
