Angels sign Petit to Minor League contract

The Los Angeles Angels signed veteran right-hander Yusmeiro Petit to a Minor League contract with an invite to Major League Spring Training, the team announced Wednesday.

Petit, 32, went 3-5 with a 4.50 ERA in 36 games (one start) for the Nationals in 2016.

Petit, who won a World Series with the Giants in 2014, has experience as a starter and reliever and could prove to be a versatile option for the Angels pitching staff if able to earn a spot on the big league roster.
