A's announce Minor League staff changes

The Oakland A's named Carlos Chavez as pitching coach at Single-A Beloit and Bryan Corey as pitching coach at Short-Season Single-A Vermont, the club announced today. The A's also named Shane Zdebiak as athletic trainer at Single-A Stockton and Ed Gitlitz as minor league technology and development manager.

Chavez was originally schedule to work for Vermont but was moved up to Beloit when Don Schulze was sent to Midland to replace John Wasdin. Corey comes to the A's after spending four seasons as a scout, most recently as the Major League advance scout for Milwaukee in 2015 and 2016. He pitched professionally for 18 years, including five seasons in the majors with Arizona, Los Angeles (NL), Texas, Boston and San Diego.

Zdebiak joins the A's from the Mariners organization, where he spent the last three seasons. He also spent four years with the Winnipeg Goldeyes of the independent American Association. Gitlitz previously had video internships with the Diamondbacks and Dodgers organizations. He replaces Mark Smith, who passed away in December.
