Padres Announce 2017 Spring Broadcast Schedule
SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Padres today announced the broadcast schedule for 2017 Spring Training presented by Southwest Airlines, featuring 32 preseason games that will be available to fans via television, radio or audio webcast.
FOX Sports San Diego will televise 14 spring games, including 13 live broadcasts and one tape delay. The first televised game of Spring Training will be a FOX Sports West simulcast on Monday, February 27 when the Padres take on the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. FOX Sports San Diego's coverage also will include the Padres vs. the Mexican national team on Tuesday, March 7, ahead of the World Baseball Classic. Spring television broadcasts will conclude with the Padres vs. Colorado Rockies on Thursday, March 30. Padres play-by-play broadcaster Don Orsillo returns to the booth for all spring telecasts. Splitting time in the analyst seat will be former Padres starting pitcher Mark Grant and former Padre Mark Sweeney.
In the first year as the Padres' new radio partner, FM 949 will broadcast 10 Cactus League games in 2017, including the annual Charity Game on Saturday, February 25 against the Seattle Mariners. FM 949's sister stations, KSON 97.3 HD2 and KSOQ 92.1 HD2, also will air an additional 14 games throughout spring. Ted Leitner returns to handle the play-by-play duties, with Jesse Agler returning for color commentary on the spring radio broadcasts.
In addition, the Padres will make 14 audio webcasts available for games that are not broadcast on either FOX Sports San Diego or FM 949. The live audio stream will be available free-of-charge exclusively on padres.com, beginning with the Padres taking on the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on February 27 in Tempe. In order to gain access to the free live audio stream, fans will be required to log in or create a free account on padres.com.
