Billy Joel returning to Citizens Bank Park

PHILADELPHIA -- Billy Joel is returning to Citizens Bank Park in 2017.

The Phillies and Live Nation announced Thursday that Joel will perform Sept. 9, when the Phils are in Washington playing the Nationals. It will be the fourth consecutive year Joel has performed at Citizens Bank Park.

"The Piano Man is returning to our world-class ballpark," Phillies executive vice president and chief operating officer Michael Stiles said in a statement. "This will be the sixth time that legendary artist Billy Joel will take to the stage, where he will once again have the distinct honor of performing at Citizens Bank Park more often than any other entertainer."

The Phils also announced they will raise a banner in tribute to Joel's sellout performances.
