CHICAGO -- Former Cubs pitcher Kerry Wood will host the sixth annual "Woody's Winter Warm-Up" celebrity bartending event on Jan. 13 to benefit Chicago's youth and support the youth mentorship program, Pitch In.
The Wood Family Foundation is partnering with Conagra Brands to host the event at Harry Caray's Tavern at Navy Pier, 600 E. Grand Ave., starting at 8:30 p.m. CT.
Guests will be served premium drinks by their favorite Chicago pro athletes, media personalities and local celebrities as they mix and mingle and compete for tips. Guests will enjoy meet and greet experiences with Cubs players, a premium open bar, food stations, raffle, and a silent and live auction. Early confirmed participants from the Cubs include members of Joe Maddon's coaching staff, 2016 Cy Young candidate Kyle Hendricks, Hall of Famers Ryne Sandberg and Fergie Jenkins, and team owner Tom Ricketts.
Also confirmed to attend are actors from the series "Chicago Fire," "Chicago PD," and "Chicago Med," plus local media celebrities.
"This is going to be a great way to extend the World Series celebration into 2017, and give [the foundation] the opportunity to connect and tell our story to new supporters and fans," Wood said.
The event helps open the three-day Cubs Convention, which will be held at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers, Jan. 13-15.
