Blue Jays complete coaching staff

The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have appointed DEREK SHELTON to the position of QUALITY CONTROL COACH, rounding out the coaching staff for 2017.

SHELTON, 46, spent seven seasons as the hitting coach for the Tampa Bay Rays (2010-16) and five in the same capacity with the Cleveland Indians (2005-09). The Carbondale, Illinois native began his coaching career in the Yankees system in 1997, including three seasons as a manager, posting a 121-73 record with the GCL and Staten Island clubs. Shelton serves as the spokesperson for Speed Hitter, recognized nationally as a top batting aid for players of all ages.
