Hamels named Rangers' pitcher of the year

ARLINGTON -- Cole Hamels has been selected as the Rangers' pitcher of the year by the local chapter of the Baseball Writers' Association of America.

He will be honored at the 2017 Dr Pepper Texas Rangers Awards Dinner, which takes place Jan. 20 at Gilley's Dallas. Tickets for the dinner are on sale at texasrangers.com/awards.

Hamels went 15-5 with a 3.32 ERA in 32 starts for the Rangers last season. He finished eighth in the American League in ERA and seventh with 200 strikeouts.

The Rangers will hold their 2017 FanFest from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. CT on Jan. 21 at Globe Life Park in Arlington. Tickets for FanFest are on sale at texasrangers.com/fanfest.

Admission to the 2017 Texas Rangers Fan Fest Presented by AT&T is $10 for adults, $8 for season-ticket holders and $5 for children 13 and under. A limited number of Autograph Fast Passes, which guarantee the Fast Pass holders every autograph for every player participating in the formal autograph sessions Saturday, with front-of-the-line access, will be sold for $500.
