Brewers reportedly to non-tender Carter

Barring a trade before Friday's non-tender deadline, the Brewers are expected to non-tender first baseman Chris Carter, according to a report from USA Today's Bob Nightengale. The club has not confirmed the report.

Carter becomes one of the most prolific power hitters on the free-agent market. The slugger, who turns 30 in December, set career highs in home runs (41) and RBIs (94) for the Brewers in 2016.

Carter earned $2.5 million last season and was scheduled to make around $10 million or $11 million in arbitration had he stayed with Milwaukee for 2017, according to the club's internal projections.
