Both Stan Musial and Ken Griffey Jr. were born on Nov. 21. Miguel Cabrera was not. But in honor of the two birthday boys, Cabrera's extraordinary place among the very best batters is being framed here, through the lens of his proximity to the two inner circle Hall of Famers born on this date.

• Among all players through their age-33 seasons, Cabrera places just ahead of Musial in extra-base hits (986 to 952). Griffey had 899. Cabrera's 986 rank sixth, Musial's seventh and Griffey's 13th.

• Among all players through their age-33 seasons, Cabrera ranks ahead of both Musial and Griffey in total bases. Cabrera's 4,414 are the fifth most, while Musial (4,105) and Griffey (3,977) are 11th and 12th, respectively.

• Among all players through their age-33 seasons, Musial (1,396 runs) leads Cabrera (1,321) and Griffey (1,271). The trio ranks 19th, 28th and 38th, respectively.

• Among all players through their age-33 seasons, Cabrera (2,519) is positioned ahead of both Musial (2,418) and Griffey (2,080) in hits. Cabrera stands seventh, Musial occupies 12th and Griffey is tied for 68th.

• Among all players through their age-33 seasons, Cabrera's 523 doubles and Musial's 509 give them the third and fourth most, respectively. Griffey's 382 tie him for 73rd.

• Among all players through their age-33 seasons, Cabrera ranks in between Griffey and Musial in home runs. Griffey had 481 (tied for fifth), Cabrera has 446 (tied for 12th) and Musial had 292 (tied for 80th).

• For all players in history through age-33 seasons, among the nine categories of runs, hits, extra-base hits, total bases, doubles, home runs, RBIs, offensive WAR and OPS+, Musial has four top-10 placements, Griffey has one and Cabrera has five.

• Taking the average of what Musial and Griffey did from their age-34 seasons through the end of their respective careers, and then applying that average to Cabrera's current career numbers, one gets the following tallies (parentheses indicate where that number would currently stand, all-time): 1,793 runs (19th), 3,476 hits (sixth), 702 doubles (fifth), 612 home runs (tied for seventh), 6,076 total bases (third), 1,345 extra-base hits (fifth), 2,128 RBIs (third) and a 98.7 offensive WAR (19th).
