Indians invite C Guillermo Quiroz to Major League camp

The Cleveland Indians today re-signed free agent C GUILLERMO QUIROZ (KEY-rose) to a Minor League contract with a non-roster invitation to Major League camp.

Quiroz, 34, spent the 2016 season with the Triple-A Columbus Clippers, hitting .264 (72-273) with 17 doubles, 11 home runs and 38 RBI in 75 games (.314/.447/.761) after signing a Minor League deal with Cleveland in February.   He appeared in 55 games behind the plate and 12 games at first base for the Clippers and hit .455 (5-11, 2B, HR, 2 RBI) in the AAA Postseason. Guillermo has appeared in 148 Major League games since 2004 spanning an 18-year playing career that began in 1999 in the Toronto organization.
