Cubs starter Jon Lester will cross off Petco Park as the last current Major League park he has pitched at as he matches up Monday against former teammate Edwin Jackson and the Padres.
Lester has thrown at the other 29 current Major League stadiums, along with the original Yankee Stadium, SunLife Stadium, the Metrodome and the Tokyo Dome. He has a 2.86 ERA, which is seventh in the National League and the second best of his career after his 2014 season (2.46).
Jackson pitched for parts of three seasons for the Cubs and accumulated a 5.37 ERA. He was released before the end of his four-year, $52 million deal. Jackson has latched on with the Padres and owns a 5.20 ERA through six starts.
Things to know about this game
• Despite Petco Park being known for its pitcher-friendly confines, Jackson has only been marginally better at home than on the road. He has a 5.12 ERA in three home starts compared to a 5.29 ERA in three road starts.
• Cubs center fielder Dexter Fowler has reached safely in 22 of his 27 games since returning from the 15-day disabled list with a right hamstring strain.
• Lester has not allowed more than two earned runs in his past four starts, and he has only one loss since May 21. After allowing 10 homers in six starts from June 18 to July 18, he has only allowed two in his past five starts.
