Rox's Gray, Reds' Moscot match up at Coors

The Reds and Rockies will meet in the second game of their four-game set Tuesday for the teams' first night games in four days.

This will be the first start for Reds right-hander Jon Moscot since coming off the 15-day disabled list with inflammation of his surgically repaired non-throwing shoulder. He was dominant in his last rehab start in Triple-A Louisville, throwing six shutout innings, striking out four and surrendering just four hits on 81 pitches.

Colorado will start Jon Gray, who is looking to build off a quality start in his last appearance Thursday in Boston. In three home starts, he's struggled to the tune of a 7.47 ERA, although his most recent one was excellent: two earned runs on five hits over seven innings with eight strikeouts against the Mets.

Things to know about this game

• No Rockies have seen Moscot in the Majors, and no Reds have seen Gray in the Majors, but Trevor Story did see Moscot in Class A Advanced Modesto, when he went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, two RBIs and a run scored against the right-hander.

• Moscot has yet to pitch more than five innings in each of his three starts this season, although he was lifted after 88 pitches in his most recent start because of shoulder issues. He's also given up at least three runs in each of his starts.

• The Rockies are hoping a day off Monday will get Nolan Arenado out of his slump. He is just 4-of-32 in his last eight games, dropping his batting average from .314 to .283.
