Astros Release 2017 Schedule

Will open season on April 3 vs. Mariners at Minute Maid Park; Home schedule includes weekend series vs. Yankees, Red Sox, Mets

HOUSTON, TX -- The Houston Astros will open the 2017 season with a seven-game homestand, beginning on April 3 vs. one of their AL West foes, the Seattle Mariners. Following their four-game series vs. the Mariners (April 3-6), the Astros will host the 2015 World Series Champion Kansas City Royals for a three-game set in what will be the season's opening weekend (April 7-9). 

Major League Baseball released the master schedule for the 2017 season today. 

The 2017 season will mark the 41st time in franchise history that the Astros will open a season at home and will be the first time that they will face Seattle in a season or home opener. Houston has won four straight season opening games overall, including this season at Yankee Stadium (5-3 win on April 5). 

As always, the 2017 home schedule will be highlighted by several promotional events, popular giveaway items and several popular opponents, which will include weekend visits by the Boston Red Sox (June 16-18) and New York Yankees (June 30-July 2). 

Once again, the Astros will take on their in-state rival Texas Rangers 10 times at Minute Maid Park in 2017 as the Lone Star Series continues. The first of three home series vs. the Rangers will be a four-game set, May 1-4. The other two series will be three-game sets, June 12-14 and Aug. 29-31. 

Interleague Play will include matchups vs. all five NL East clubs, three of which will be at home. The 2015 NL Champion New York Mets will visit Minute Maid Park for a three-game series the weekend of Sept. 1-3, marking their first visit to Houston since 2012. The Astros will also host the Atlanta Braves (May 9-10) and Washington Nationals (Aug. 22-24) in 2017.
