Red Sox to celebrate Papi during final homestand

The Red Sox will celebrate slugger David Ortiz's career and tenure in Boston during the team's final regular-season homestand from Sept. 30-Oct. 2 at Fenway Park.

The organization will celebrate Ortiz's accomplishments during his 14-year Red Sox career, which includes 10 All-Star appearances and three World Series championships, as well as his leadership in the clubhouse and the community.

Players will wear jersey and cap patches during all three games against the Blue Jays, and the bases will be adorned with a special logo. Fans attending the Oct. 2 game will receive a commemorative patch.

In addition, NESN will air two in-depth specials on Ortiz's career. The first, "David Ortiz: The Journey," premieres on Friday. The second, "The David Ortiz Era," premieres on Sept. 28.

Ortiz plans to officially retire on Nov. 18, his 40th birthday, after a 20-year career.
