Stars still lead Rays in ASG votes

ST. PETERSBURG -- The votes are in for week two, and Carl Crawford and B.J. Upton remain the top Devil Rays' online vote-getters for the 2007 Major League Baseball All-Star Game.

Crawford, a career .293 hitter, is among the top 15 outfield candidates to receive votes. The left fielder, who was the Rays' 2004 All-Star selection, has led the American League in triples and stolen bases three times each.

Upton is currently in fifth place among second basemen, down one spot from last week, behind New York's Robinson Cano, Detroit's Placido Polanco, Texas' Ian Kinsler and Boston's Dustin Pedroia.

The 22-year-old leads the Rays in batting average among those with at least 100 at-bats, and likewise led the American League for a time in May. He's second only to Crawford in team steals.

Less than a month remains for online voting, which ends June 28 at 11:59 p.m. ET. Fans can vote up to 25 times by using the Monster 2007 All-Star Online Ballot at MLB.com. They'll be able to vote again immediately after the 2007 MLB "All-Star Game Selection Show" on July 1. With the Monster.com 2007 All-Star Final Vote, fans also have the opportunity to choose the final player on each squad.

The All-Star Game will be televised nationally by FOX Sports and televised around the world by Major League Baseball International. ESPN Radio will provide exclusive national radio coverage, while MLB.com will offer extensive online coverage and MLB Radio will have exclusive play-by-play coverage of the game on the Internet.

Since its first All-Star Game in 1998, Tampa Bay has sent five pitchers (Rolando Arrojo, Roberto Hernandez, Lance Carter, Danys Baez and Scott Kazmir) to the Midsummer Classic, with four outfielders (Jose Canseco, Greg Vaughn, Randy Winn and Crawford) and a single infielder (Fred McGriff).
