A's recall IF/OF Arismendy Alcantara from Single-A Stockton
The Oakland A's recalled infielder/outfielder Arismendy Alcantara from Single-A Stockton, the club announced today.
Alcantara joins the A's for fourth time this year and is batting .200 with no RBI in seven games with Oakland. He went 2-for-8 (.250) in three games during his first stint from June 21-28, 1-for-5 (.200) in two games from July 20-23 and 0-for-2 in two pinch hitting appearances from Aug. 22-28. The 24-year-old switch-hitter was optioned to Single-A Stockton Aug. 29 and went 8-for-26 (.308) with a home run and eight RBI in six games with the Ports. Alcantara is batting a combined .278 with 22 doubles, 11 triples, 12 home runs, 56 RBI and 32 stolen bases in 108 games with Triple-A Iowa, Triple-A Nashville and Stockton. He has appeared in 59 games at second base, 16 in center field, 13 at shortstop and 10 in left field in the minors this year. Alcantara was acquired from the Chicago Cubs on June 9 for Chris Coghlan.
